License, Safety & Liability

noknok is open hardware. We share our designs so you can build, repair, customise, and create — but that openness comes with shared responsibility. Please read this before building, modifying, or using any noknok hardware.

How our work is licensed

Each repository contains its own LICENSE file, which is authoritative. All of these licenses are provided without any warranty.

⚠️ Safety notice

noknok products are electronic devices and do-it-yourself maker kits. You assemble, solder, 3D-print, flash, power, modify, and operate them at your own risk. In particular:

Disclaimer of warranty & limitation of liability

noknok hardware, firmware, software, and designs are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, noknok and its contributors accept no liability for any damage, injury, or loss arising from the assembly, use, misuse, or modification of noknok products or designs, including builds you create or adapt yourself.

Nothing in this notice excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable Swiss or EU law (including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and your statutory consumer rights, which remain unaffected).

If you resell or distribute

Makers who sell products built with noknok modules are responsible for their own regulatory compliance (e.g. CE marking, electrical safety, packaging, and labelling requirements) in their market.
